Jorge Scheffer

Doctor in Music (2019) at Paraná Federal University (UFPR), Master’s in music education/cognition (2012), Bachelor of Trumpet (1998) and Postgraduate in Music Education (2010) in Paraná Music and Fine Arts School (Brazil).

He worked as Artistic Director and Conductor of Ponta Grossa Symphony Orchestra (2014/2016) and Jaraguá do Sul Philharmonic Orchestra (2018).

He worked as a trumpeter in the SĂŁo Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) from 2006 to 2008 and as Sargent Musician of the Brazilian Air Force from 1993 to 2014.

In Brazil, acts as guest musician of the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, Paraná Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Antiqua of Curitiba, Chamber Orchestra of PUC/PR and São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) with which participated in three European tours and two South American tours.

He worked as conductor of the Brass Band of the Marista Pio XII College in 2004 – Ponta Grossa/PR – which also served as a trumpet teacher from 1990 to 2003.

It was a finalist in the Second and Third Weril Award for Soloists Wind Instruments (1997-1998) and second place in the National Competition for Young Talents of the Paraná Symphony Orchestra in 1999.

Author of six books on the Collective Music Education for Brass Instruments (2013) by an order made by thea Guri Project – Government of the State of SĂŁo Paulo – which also served as in pedagogical technical advisor in 2007.

Currently, he is a college professor at the Paraná State University (UNESPAR), founding member of the Brazilian Trumpeter Association and Bachiana Brass Quintet, and B&S artist (Buffet Group).
